Lightning Experience gives you the option to use a standard component called Path when modifying your Record Page. Path helps your users follow a process, such as working an opportunity from a new lead all the way to an effectively executed contract.

What Is Salesforce Path?

What Is Salesforce Path

Salesforce Path is a tool that shows people where they want to go and how to get there. The Path is only available in Salesforce Lightning, and it comprises five important fields and a Success Guidance for each Path level. These tools will help users succeed.

How To Setup A Path In Salesforce

Step 1:Create a New Record Type in your database.

It’s simple to create a new record type on the object, and it will have its own sales procedure. These choices are vital because the Path utilizes them as waypoints, which might cause issues if the Path has no Record Type or Process.

6. Choose the Page Layout you want to use for this record type. You may assign several layouts to each profile or a single layout to all.

7. Create a new page layout and assign it at a later time. To finish, press the Save button.

8.These Record Types may be used to establish various Lightning Paths for your business operations or to limit and regulate what specific profiles can view.

Step 2: Enable the Path

Setup has a Quick Find box. Enter “Path” to discover it. This demonstrates Path Settings. After Path, choose Enable. You may save a user’s path preferences. If unchecked, the Path’s details are hidden on load. Then pick New Path.

How To Enable Celebrations

When you’re done setting up Path, you can “turn on” a switch. Even though updating Salesforce is usually done alone, this is a nice touch!

How To Add Salesforce Path To A Page Layout

  1. To change a record page, click the cog icon at the top of the screen. This starts configuring the Lightning record page.
  2. In the components menu, look for “Path.” Then, look for the component and drag it to the top of the page
  3. Click “Save.”

When To Use Salesforce Path

  1. The people who use your site will better understand what you want them to do because they’ll be able to see key fields.
  2. Users are taught about system changes in a low-touch way by the admin. Plus, finding out how things work by doing something is better learning.
  3. Onboarding new users significantly if your company is growing quickly or there are many turnovers.

Tips For Salesforce Guidance

  • Include mandatory and Validation Rule fields.
  • You may only select five fields, so pick wisely!
  • Concise best practices. Link to extra information if needed.
  • When Path is enabled in the Kanban view, the key fields and guidance appear on the Kanban board cards.
  • Hovering over the record shows how long it was in that stage.
  • Guidance can lead to surveys.
